The objective of the School is to provide theoretical and practical training and to introduce young scientists at under-graduate, post-graduate and doctoral level to subjects concerning biochemistry and biotechnology. At the same time, an integral part of its activities is to conduct cutting-edge research in biochemistry, biology and genetics, develop new know-how related to designing and synthesizing new compounds to apply in health and biotechnology, provide services and transfer know-how to public research and technological centres, university bodies and industry in Greece and abroad.

The University of Thessaly is a public Higher Educational Institution in Greece based in Volos. Established in 1984, it comprises six faculties and eighteen schools with units in Volos, Larissa, Trikala, Karditsa and Lamia. The University of Thessaly is among Greece’s more recent academic institutions and in which around 14,000 undergraduates and 3,500 postgraduates and candidate doctoral students study.
